Vanguard Caldera 12 Duality

I was looking to upgrade my measly 8" subwoofer, that although had served me well, felt a bit lacking for my music enjoyment. I had heard whispers of a killer 10" sub from a brand I hadn't really heard of before, but was getting glowing reviews by respected people in the audiophile community. So I figured why not give it a chance and ended up ordering one of the 10" Vanguard Calderas. I was a bit concerned since I ordered whilst they were experiencing some shipment hurdles and unfortunately my order seemed to be affected. Alas, Mark and the wonderful guys at Vera-Fi were able to organize a way to upgrade me to their flagship 12" Caldera instead at no extra cost.

So, I finally got the 12" Caldera with its beautiful cherry wood finish and massive driver into my setup. Yes, the reviews don't lie. This sub hits deep and rumbles your space for pure satisfaction. I tested it with my electronic and hip-hop music catalog as well as some great movies such as 1917, Top Gun Maverick, and Heat to recreate that theater experience and it delivered. I'm not the most knowledgeable about the audio science behind a good sub, but this gets my full approval considering I'm not even running it at more than 50% gain. This is truly a superb deal in this audio hobby that seems to have no ceiling for how much gear can be priced for. In any case, I am 100% willing to get another if I could; at the very least I am all for supporting some of the coolest people at Vera-Fi!

I was not disappointed. This took a little longer to get than my bookshelf speakers. But once it finally arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the perfect match. Great low end bass. Beautiful wood work, strong sturdy cabinet. They knocked it out of the park. Very happy customer.

It's hard to believe that a speaker this beautiful, sounding this spectacular is less than $500. I am impressed.

I've recently replaced my B&W 705 S2 standmount and B&W ASW608 sub by a new B&W 704 S3 floorstander. Incredibly good speakers, especially considering the price. The dual woofers reach down to 48Hz, but I still missed that last octave. I was looking for a suitable REL sub but after seeing so many good reviews about the Vanguard Caldera 12" Active Subwoofer I decided to give it a try. I thought it would be difficult to get one in the Netherlands. However thanks to Ace from Vera-Fi, he managed to do that; my sub arrived on location in 11 days. The price-performance ratio is out of this world. I thank Ace for all his efforts and Vera-Fi for an incredible deal.

I have had some excellent subwoofers in my time, and for music the Vanguard Caldera 12 is one of them. A small amount of the 'feel not hear it' bass is missing (when it is even present in the soundtrack) in some movies when compared to my current living room 500-watt RMS ported 12" sub (both compared when setup with Yamaha YPAO room correction at the same listening position in my bedroom). However that sub is 2.75 times the price of the Vanguard Caldera 12. That is a lot to pay for a small amount of bass not even present in all soundtracks. In music however, it is almost impossible to hear a difference in lowest frequency response. Plus, one is a black, cloth-covered tube that is ~40" tall, and the other is beautifully finished in real Rosewood veneer. Looks count, too in my book ;)

Excellent built quality, a ported sub that sounds closer to sealed sub and for only 348 euros? Insane but true, the Caldera 12 will sound just as good in my room for music or home theater, i cant recommend this sub enough! Go dual for bombastic room filling low notes imo. The only gripe i have is the auto on off which turns the sub off after only 10 seconds, i would recommend at least 1+ minute of inactivity to turn off so lets hope they boys in the lab will sort this out on the next batches! Excellent job Vera Fi team!

Great system -- purchased 5 scouts (one for center channel) and 12" sub. Scouts sound is clear and natural. Scouts and sub blend wonderfully. For music, the sub reproduces musical notes, not simply some deep thump other subs might offer. Work fine for home theater as well. Tight, concise sound,

Absolutely mind blowing bass! The timing and accuracy of this sub can be compared to REL Very musical but also packs a punch in a surround set up.

These are very musical subs for audiophiles at a fraction of the price than the competition. Vera-fi customer support (Mark Schifter) is top notch. I do not believe there is any subwoofer pair in the approximately 800 dollar price range that can beat these subs for your hifi system.
