Amazing build and quality of sound, better than speakers 4 times the price, get a bargain while you can.
Took some time to get here, but I am enjoying the quality of this product. It is plenty of bass for my space and I don't need much volume to make the room shake. Well worth the wait.
The Vera‑Fi Audio Vanguard Scout bookshelf speakers are a stunning blend of craftsmanship and performance. Their rosewood finish gives them a premium, heirloom‑quality look—and fortunately, they sound every bit as good as they appear. Paired with a Marantz and tuned to emphasize midrange and highs, vocals from artists like Whitney and Elvis came through with remarkable clarity and presence.
In a small room, the Scouts delivered impressive volume without distortion, and when matched with two rosewood Caldera 12" subwoofers, the system blended seamlessly into a full, rich soundstage. Moving them into a larger room only highlighted their capability—they filled the space effortlessly.
Across streaming, CDs, and vinyl, the Scouts remained consistently engaging. Even when connected to a 1990s Sony “HiFi” stereo, older records and discs gained new life. These speakers manage to be both beautiful and versatile, making them an exceptional choice for anyone who values both aesthetics and high‑quality audio.
Thank you Vera-fi Audio for another innovative product that improves upon the performance of the SDFB. ACTX improves the overall sound quality by providing better bass punch, improved clarity and detail, an even quieter background and more. As a bonus it removes the Piggy cable to clean up some of the cabling. Highly recommended like all the other Vera-fi products! Keep them coming!
Some printed material, detailing speaker and company info, date purchased, and set up suggestions. Design the box it came in to fold up for long term storage.
Very happy with these speakers. They deliver great bass for their size, and overall present a very credible sound across all frequencies. They are easy on the eyes, and easy on your pocket. Great value. I am certain I will keep them for a long time. Highly recommended.
Firstly I want to say that it is remarkable how much additional performance can be extracted from component by replacing the fuse.
I have been battling sibilance and brightness in my system for some time and I have upgraded power cords, interconnects and fuses. Each change brought about a small improvement, say around 1%.
The addition of the Infinity fuse (replacing a hi-fi tuning supreme) resulted in a 4-5% improvement, not just in the brightness issue, but across all sonic traits.
I should add that the burn in period is lengthy, around 300 hours. Once burned in, My treble was smoother, bas deeper and more controlled and the soundstage was substantially wider, better defined and more immersive, with the space around each instrument/vocal more accurately rendered and textured. The overall sound was more natural and effortless.
Mark and the Vera-fi team included the graphene slug for which I am very grateful. I have no experience with the other slugs, but apparently the graphene is the best. I also used the extreme piggy.
The Infinity fuse is excellent value for money and highly recommended.
Great sound, much more musical than the DIY sub I was using before. It's just a shame that the auto mode switch isn't very well calibrated, so that it turns on and off unnecessarily during quieter parts of tracks. Also suffers from transformer hum which I'm having to do quite a lot of work to solve.
That said - for the price, still an excellent musical experience.
Let me start out by saying I'm not an audiophile, just an old guy who had the chance to buy some decent speakers. I shopped around watched hours of YouTube evaluations and made my choice. These are very solid speakers that look good anywhere.
As I said, I'm not audiophile but these things blew me away with the room filling sound from a compact size. I also added the Bluetooth amps so I can put them in any room by just plugging them in.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for great sound at a great price.
Great subwoofer. Great price. Incredible customer service. I would recommend buying the caldera 10” duality. That’s what I wish I had done.
2025 I have seen Speakers come and go, the price you pay being married to a low income Audiophile. These Vanguard Scouts have saved my sanity and as a bonus they look beautiful in my living room. Now he wants the matching Sub for his Birthday, he will have to wait until next Christmas for that one.
well-rounded, great sounding speaker. pair very well with the WIIM amp ultra. Completely satisfied!
Wow, my new vanguard scouts are amazing. Beautiful build quality and beautiful sound, still waiting for my caldera 10 to arrive, can’t wait to pair, them together, I guess the only con I have would be the wait time for receiving the order. Very happy with my choice. Happy New year to you and your team, have a blessed New year
The Main Stream is an excellent noise control device if you really want to control noise at the wall outlet. The system I'm using it in is a passive power strip connected to an active regeneration and voltage regulation conditioner and I tried the Main Stream in the power strip, the regenerator, and then the wall, and I noticed the most improvement at the wall plug. The fact that it has a real effect prior to two other conditioning devices is testament to its' capabilities.
I was looking to upgrade my measly 8" subwoofer, that although had served me well, felt a bit lacking for my music enjoyment. I had heard whispers of a killer 10" sub from a brand I hadn't really heard of before, but was getting glowing reviews by respected people in the audiophile community. So I figured why not give it a chance and ended up ordering one of the 10" Vanguard Calderas. I was a bit concerned since I ordered whilst they were experiencing some shipment hurdles and unfortunately my order seemed to be affected. Alas, Mark and the wonderful guys at Vera-Fi were able to organize a way to upgrade me to their flagship 12" Caldera instead at no extra cost.
So, I finally got the 12" Caldera with its beautiful cherry wood finish and massive driver into my setup. Yes, the reviews don't lie. This sub hits deep and rumbles your space for pure satisfaction. I tested it with my electronic and hip-hop music catalog as well as some great movies such as 1917, Top Gun Maverick, and Heat to recreate that theater experience and it delivered. I'm not the most knowledgeable about the audio science behind a good sub, but this gets my full approval considering I'm not even running it at more than 50% gain. This is truly a superb deal in this audio hobby that seems to have no ceiling for how much gear can be priced for. In any case, I am 100% willing to get another if I could; at the very least I am all for supporting some of the coolest people at Vera-Fi!
Blends beautifully and transparently with a pair of Vanguard Scouts. And this is a fantastic value in a very competent little sub. Even better if you get one on sale. Based on a ton of research, the only sub that is close to this good a value is the Vanguard Caldera 12". Better construction, better driver, and better amp than any other $200 sub.
At Mark's suggestion I connected it to a sub out on my WiiM Ultra using a Y cable into the two line in jacks (L and R). I also used a good quality SVS SoundPath sub cable and a decent quality short RCA Y cable.
I was not disappointed. This took a little longer to get than my bookshelf speakers. But once it finally arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the perfect match. Great low end bass. Beautiful wood work, strong sturdy cabinet. They knocked it out of the park. Very happy customer.
It took a while to get them, but it was definitely worth the wait. For the price, these were way better sounding than I was expecting. Beautiful heavy wood cabinets, excellent range, tone and quality construction. I don’t think you’d need to, but a nice addition that I purchased was the Vanguard Caldera 12 inch subwoofer. It certainly complimented the system well. I didn’t want to spend a fortune and these fit the bill perfectly.
The customer service response was outstanding and prompt. I haven’t seen this level of personal customer attention in a long time. Highly recommend.
I always had a nasty hum present when my preamp was muted. The Subway completely eliminated it.
I am by no means an audio expert, but I ordered these after being very impressed with the Vanguard Scout 10 inch subwoofer. The sound they make is very pleasing to my ears, I have seen some other reviews describe them as warm and I think that is a pretty adept description. They aren't tinny and they aren't overly bassy, in my opinion they pack a big punch...especially given their size. They are a marked improvement over the speakers they replaced and I am extremely happy with them. I have these paired with 10 inch Caldera and a Fosi audio bt20a pro mini class D amp with bluetooth so I can stream music...I am very happy with the setup. The build quality seems excellent and the rosewood veneer is very nicely done. The packaging was great and the speakers arrived in perfect condition. From my experience, Mark and his team are excellent people and a pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
