Deep, Controlled Bass Without Compromise

At the core of the Caldera 10 is a 10-inch driver powered by a high-quality Class A/B amplifier with a robust toroidal transformer linear power supply. This combination ensures clean, powerful bass response, reaching down to 30Hz (-3dB) and 27Hz (-6dB). The high-aspect-ratio laminar flow slot vent eliminates chuffing, delivering smooth, distortion-free bass with every note.

The Vanguard Caldera 10 is literally the giant killer

This little box put out impressively large-scale sound.

You’ll be impressed with how much this little sub can truly offer in terms of total system musicality.

This sub is quite musical, far from a boom-boom box; it renders with a musical heart.

The Caldera 10 actually increased the soundstage, giving the deep resonance that accompanies a massive hall.

A winner subwoofer!

Over the years, I have put the majority of my audiophile / videophile time and money into the audio side of things. On the video side, I have a great LG TV / Monitor with a decent amp and speaker combo for sound. On a lark, I decided to pull the trigger on a Vanguard Caldera 10 sub, figuring that for the price and with Vera-Fi’s generous return policy, I couldn’t go wrong. Frankly, and in spite of the many favorable reviews, I really expected nothing more than thumpy, one note bass.

Surprise! The VC10 is tight and tuneful and highly adjustable. I was able to dial in the sub quite easily to add the bottom octave / octave+ to my video system, without overblown low-end out of sync with the rest of the frequency spectrum. It’s a remarkable phenomenon, but as I have experienced with a much more expensive sub in my audio system, adding the bottom octave or two somehow brings a greater clarity to mid and high frequencies. Part of this I suppose is the fact that I can eliminate the bass boost on my main speakers I had dialed in an attempt to get more satisfying sound. The mains are not working as hard now with the sub in place, greater clarity is the result, or so it seems subjectively.

Anyway, this sub is a winner. Can’t go wrong in my humble opinion…

Excellent

Nothing better at this price and I agree, you’d have to pay way more to get better or equal performance. Just prior to this I had demoed a JL Audio Dominion at five times the price and there was no contest between the two, the Vanguard was demonstrably better.
I use this for music only and paired it with some Gallo A’diva SE’s. IMPORTANT: this sub requires extensive break-in and didn’t sound its best until after about 100 hours and the change was dramatic.
The reason why the sub is so good for music is because it excels in medium and upper bass(where most music is played) yet still goes deep and clean providing a nice visceral and “chesty” feel that you expect with better subwoofers.
The sub is well-made, is not overly heavy and is easy to move around.

Incredible Performance on a budget

I got this subwoofer right off their site and am really impressed with the sound. I have it paired with two KEF bookshelf speakers and a Denon Home Theatre Receiver. Works super well in my setup.

Blown away.

At this price point, I doubt if you'll ever find another subwoofer that can compete with it. The base is clear sharp and full not muddy.

Surprisingly good for a low price!

I'm happy with how I could integrate a pair of these into my stereo system, so that they make a contribution the overall sound, but don't call attention to themselves. Bass got tighter, with more "texture" - as I had hoped. I used the high level hookup method.
